Daredevil - The Man Without Fear! |
Powers and Abilities: As a young man, Matt Murdock was blinded when he was exposed to chemical radiation during an accident. Due to that exposure, Matt gained heightened senses in terms of smelling, hearing, and touching. He's also able to use something called "radar vision" that allows him to perceive his surroundings. It relates more directly to his hearing and it works in a way that's similar to sonar. In addition to these powers, Matt is an excellent gymnast and trained for many years under a coach named Stick. He fights using a combination of American style Boxing, Ninjutsu, Jujutsu, and Judo. His weapon of choice is a billy club that can be disguised as a blind man's cane when he's working as a lawyer. It contains thirty feet of aircraft control cable connected to a case-hardened steel grapnel. The club can also be split into two parts, one of which is a fighting baton, the other of which ends in a curved hook. He is able to hit multiple targets at once using ricochets. History: Matt was raised by his father Jack Murdock, a struggling boxer in Hell's Kitchen. His mother, Maggie, left when Matt was still a baby and became a nun. He grew up raised in the Roman Catholic faith and his father worked hard to make Matt see the importance of education and leading a non-violent life in order to become a better person. Although this advice would serve him well later on, Matt was bullied quite often growing up. Unable to defend himself successfully, he occasionally was defended by a young Frank Castle. For the most part, however, he was beat up and ridiculed by other children. In secret, he practiced in gyms and learned basic principles of self-defense. Not too long after that, he saved an older man from a chemical truck only to lose his eyesight in the process. In the hospital, he was comforted by a mysterious woman, presumably his mother. He was trained by a strange, enigmatic man named Stick. In the middle of his teens, Matt's father was murdered. Consumed with rage and despair, Matt viciously attacked the murders while wearing his first of many masks, causing one of them to have a fatal heart attack. While studying at the Columbia School of Law, Matt falls in love with Elektra Natchios, the daughter of a Greek diplomat. He wore his second mask in an effort to save both Elektra and her father from terrorists. When her father died anyway, Elektra left Matt and broke his heart. Still reeling from both the loss of Elektra and the absence of any stable role model in his life, Matt made his first costume out of Jack's old yellow and black boxing outfit and began to seek out justice as a masked superhero beginning first with the men responsible for his father's death. The name he gave himself was Daredevil, a somewhat cruel nickname given to him as a boy. Eventually Matt moved on to wearing red at the request of another former and currently deceased love interest, Karen Page. As he worked to fight crime and provide justice in the streets of Manhattan, Matt also worked for other reputable law firms as a highly skilled criminal defense attorney. In time he established his own law firm called Nelson and Murdock with his college room mate and best friend, Franklin "Foggy" Nelson. Over the years, he has fought quite a large group of villains and loved and lost quite a large number of women. Although Daredevil very rarely opts not to work on his own in terms of defending Hell's Kitchen, he has teamed up on more than one occasion with other Marvel heroes including Spider-man and Black Widow. Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist act as Matt's bodyguards from time to time. He still occasionally speaks with or meets with Elektra as he's never quite gotten around to getting over her. Against his better judgment, he also remains in contact with Frank Castle, occasionally defending him and often posting his bail. Note: Despite being very much comic book-based in terms of overall characterization, Matt will be a mixture of Daredevil titles combined. He is initially from a happier time prior to the revel of his secret identity and the death of his best friend. Aspects of his back story are also pulled from Garth Ennis' Punisher Kills The Marvel Universe. |
Daredevil/Matt Murdock belong to Marvel Comics. Sadly Nikolaj Coster-Waldau belongs to himself.
